Last Day of School

The last day of school is Thursday, May 21.  Students should arrive at the regular time (9:00).  We will have a fun activity in the classroom until 10:30.  At 10:30, we will have our Learning Fair.  All Expert Presentations will be displayed.  Everyone can look at them and appreciate all the hard work that went into the projects.  Feel free to ask questions of the children who created the project.  At 11:30, we will go outside for the all-school picnic. Please plan to bring a lunch from home for this event.

Let me warn you about parking on Thursday.  Our Learning Fair starts at 10:30.  The 5th Grade Continuation Ceremòny begins at 11:00.  I'm sure there are other end of year activities that day.  I would recommend coming to school early so that you have a place to park.  The later in the morning you arrive, the further away you will have to park.  Also, if it rains, I do not recommend parking on the dirt roads.  It gets very muddy and very slick.  Just a few thoughts to consider.

I look forward to seeing everyone later this week!

I would love to have your feedback.

It is hard to believe that we are just a few days away from the end of the school year.  Where has the time gone?  As I reflect on the year and look for ways to improve the classroom for next year, I would like to have some feedback from you.  I have put together a short online survey.  Please take a few minutes and fill it out.  Unfortunately, I was not able to include a page for comments, however, I welcome any comments you might have as well.  The responses on the survey are completely anonymous so please be completely honest.  I will use this information to improve my classroom for next year.  Please follow this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3XFT8GF.

Thank you!
Jenny

Field Day!

I'm sorry to post pictures of field day so late.  The kids had a great time at field day on Friday!  They loved wearing the shirts they decorated.  Thank you to the families that have sent in money to help cover the cost.

Field Trip Fun!

We had a terrific day!  We started by going to Anderson Farm.  We went on a tractor ride out to a field and planted pumpkin seeds.  Next, the kids were given alfalfa pellets to feed the goats.  It tickles your hand!  We learned about how plants grow and planted a sunflower in a pot.  After eating lunch, the kids played on the playground for a little while.  It was really cold and started to rain, so we left a little early and headed back to school.

After returning to school, Jacob did his Expert Presentation.  He talked about shapes and basic math.

Our 5th Grade Buddies came for a visit.  We made sailboats.  We traced our hands to make the sails.  Please excuse the 5th Grader making a silly face.

Friday is Field Day.  We will be out from 9:30-11:00.  If you haven't signed up for the Avid 4 Adventure rock wall, I highly recommend it!

What a Week!

We have a very busy week ahead of us!

-Wednesday, May 13: We will go on our field trip to Anderson Farm.  Please be sure students are wearing good shoes because we will be walking a lot.  The ground may still be muddy.  Please send the kids to school with a sack lunch.  We will be eating at the farm.  Kids will not be able to purchase lunch at school.

-Friday, May 15 is Field Day.  The kids have been working on their Field Day t-shirts.  They look terrific!  If you haven't sent in $3.50 to cover the cost of the shirt and puffy paint, please do.  Avid 4 Adventure will bring a rock wall to Field Day.  Children need to be signed up by Thursday.  I highly recommend this  activity!

-I have had a number of questions about this, so I want to clarify.  The last day of school is Thursday, May 21.  We are not having a graduation or continuation ceremony.  Instead, students will come to school at the regular time.  At 10:30, we will have our Learning Fair.  All of the Expert Presentations will be on display.  The children have done an outstanding job on these and are proud of their work.  At 11:30, we will go outside for the all-school picnic.  After eating, parents are welcome to sign their student out and let summer vacation begin!

Fantastic Friday!

We had a fantastic day today!  First a few reminders:
-The last book order is due today.  Although you are not obligated to purchase books from it, it is a relatively inexpensive way to purchase books for summer reading.

-Field trip money and permission slips are due.  If I do not have a permission slip for your child, I can not take them on the field trip.  If you have not sent the permission slip and money in, please do so on Monday.

-Field Day shirts have arrived!  We will start decorating them on Wednesday.  If you haven't already done so, please send in $3.50 to cover the cost of the shirt and fabric paint.

-Last day of school: the last day of school is Thursday, May 21.  Children will come to school at the regular time.  The Learning Fair will be in the classroom at 10:45.  I've changed the time slightly to make sure we can go to the all-school picnic at 11:30.  After the picnic, you are welcome to sign your child out and let Summer begin!
